Nice story. I always like chatting to Filipina nurses when I get the opportunity in London hospitals. So gravel, charming and friendly. I recently enjoyed “Under Coconut Skies” by Yasmin Newman. Great breadth of recipes and not always the stereotypical ones.

Nice story. I always enjoy chatting with Filipina nurses whenever I visit London hospitals. They exude such warmth, charm, and friendliness. Recently, I delved into 'Under Coconut Skies' by Yasmin Newman and found it delightful. The book offers a wide range of recipes that go beyond the usual stereotypes, showcasing the rich culinary diversity of Filipino cuisine. Each page of the book seemed to transport me under the coconut trees, savoring the flavors and aromas of Southeast Asia. It's refreshing to see authentic dishes celebrated alongside innovative interpretations, highlighting the depth and complexity of Filipino cooking. Newman's approach not only celebrates traditional favorites but also introduces lesser-known gems that intrigue the palate and tell stories of culture and tradition. It's wonderful how food can bridge cultures and create connections, much like the conversations I have with Filipina nurses—each encounter adding a new layer of understanding and appreciation. 'Under Coconut Skies' captures this spirit beautifully, making it a culinary journey worth savoring.
