I adore Guidecca (& am scouring the real estate listings on the island) I learned so much! Your descriptions of the market days is going to be so useful.

The Giudecca Island is where I first lived in Venice and it still holds a special place in my heart. There's a quiet and intimacy there that you can hardly find in other spots. And just across the canal the whole world awaits you. Just perfect.

Thank you for this beautiful post Nic!

I am so pleased you liked it. I always worry writing about places like this because it is too easy to stereotype. Giudecca is a favourite place of ours, my husband and I, to stay on.

Your affection for the island transpires and that's beautiful. Now I can't wait to be there again, it's been a long time!

(Writing about Venice can be tricky for Venetians, too)

This makes me feel happy. It is a glorious place of many contrasts. The light, the sounds, the smells -everything.
