Divine!! I knew Ernie Mickler way back when. Well before the book. I am pretty sure another tag for this book could be camp. Ernie was a practitioner of gimlet-eyed camp, all while seeming personally luscious. And I think he was exploring the culinary aspect of "Florida crackers" rather than the whole South. One does not forget the pie so good that "it makes you want to lay down on the floor and scream.

Love to! There's a lengthy article in Bitter Southerner about him, but I don't see straight with that. Five years ago perhaps. His sole authorship of the book is in question, as well. Credible people believe it was as much another man's work. One thing about Ernie was for sure -- as a youth he was very, very beautiful. He was in the graduate program of my college for women, and he put 99 out of 100 girls in the shade. This altered how his life went, how much, for him, was there for the taking. He could be seen with precision from many points of view.
