“Does this book mention that salt is poisonous, unfit for human consumption?" popped up when I typed ‘Salt: a World History by Mark Kurlansky’ into my search engine.
Thank you so much for the link to the book about the Tuareg salt trade! I lived in Niger for a long time a billion years ago. (That salty gimlet sounds pretty amazing)

"Having extremely low blood pressure is a convenient excuse and reason for behaving like a bison at a salt lick." I'm jealous.
Purely down to genetics. I know I'm fortunate x
My genetics are quite the opposite unfortunately
Arghhh!
Worth reading for the aside about male food writers alone.
I never miss an opportunity to snark
Oh god, if we ever meet in person I have stories for you.
Think I've (part) solved the AI problem. I’ve uploaded Chrome instead of using Safari/Google. No AI! First entry on Salt is Wikipedia. Far better.
I need to change my browser
There's a Chrome extension called "Bye Bye Google AI" that actually restores it to not-garbage. Still not great, but not as bad.
Yes! Salt both necessary and a gustatory thrill. As for Google and the nauseating AI preface …
It's declined shockingly swiftly. Unusable now.
This is beautiful and utile. I love the “bison at a salt lick.”
Thank you so much xxx
I'm sorry you haven't seen my book The Miracle of Salt (2022)...
I wish I could afford to read every book on every subject :(
